Southern France
The South of France has a wealth of natural winemaking advantages - not least of which is a climate most winemakers around the world would give their first pressings for - and has established its reputation way beyond the "ordinary" wines of yore. More and more producers from other regions (both in France and further afield) are looking to the Languedoc as the perfect place to experiment with new plantings and new methods. Our own Bruno Paillard and Michel Laroche have both had great success with their southern outings. The recent surge in popularity of rosé wine has also helped focus attention on the excellent pinks available in Provence and elsewhere in the South.
All in all, this area is one to keep a close eye on, as winemaking potential here is almost limitless.
Bibendum Fact
Southern French men, some of the toughest on the planet, are at their happiest when playing rugby and quaffing rose wine!
