Burgundy

Burgundy is where the finest and possibly the most complicated French wines are made. From only 2 main grape varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, come some of the most complex and long lived fine wines in the world. Burgundy's fine wine line up goes from Chablis in the north, where the crisp and steely dry Chablis is made, down to the Cote de Nuits, home of Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint Georges and Vosne-Romanee.

Then further south through the Cote de Beaune and Corton Charlemagne, Meursault, Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet, then further south still until you reach Pouilly-Fuisse. Like most of Burgundy (and many things in life) it's who you know that counts.

Bibendum Fact

Burgundy, for a long time a proud kingdom, had some pretty cool sounding kings. 1364 saw the beginning of a golden age when the region was ruled over by Phillip the Bold, John the Fearless, Phillip the Good (father of 25 illegitimate children!), and Charles the Bold. We wouldn't mess with them!
