Chateau Latour is one of the most iconic names in the world of fine wine. One of the five First Growths of the Medoc, it is is known for elegance coupled with power and its second wine, Les Forts de Latour, which comes from a specific vineyard parcel, is also of exceptionally high quality. The vineyards are located closer to the river than those of other First Growths, and the moderating effect of this means that Latour tends to do very well in weaker vintages as well as in top ones. The blend is typically made from 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, with the balance coming from Petit Verdot & Cabernet Franc. Chateau Latour has a phenomenal propensity for ageing well, with many tasters remarking that the 1899, 1900 & 1928 come high in their list of candidates for favourite vintage - ever!
