Freshness immediately predominates together with hints of citrus fruits. After a few minutes, typical Veuve Clicquot notes of dried fruit & pastries take the lead. Lively & firm yet soft & velvety.

Vinification Details.

The choice of grape classification is of vital importance. The blend includes 17 crus only, which are either Grand or Premier Crus. A dose of 28 g/l of sugar was added.

Producer Information

A true piece of French history, Veuve Clicquot was established in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron. Following the death of Philippe Clicquot-Muiron's and also later his son Francois Clicquot, Francois widow, now known as Madam Clicquot carried on the Champagne production for many years with great success.

The house played an important role in establishing champagne as a favored drink of haute bourgeoisie and nobility throughout Europe. Producing Champagne of such quality for hundreds of years, Veuve Clicqout and its iconic yellow label, are now a symbol of the decadent world of Champagne, and is well known for its body and class.

Regional info.

The climactic conditions for 2002 were ideal, characterised by low rainfall and drier weather with a healthier atmosphere than the previous years and few unfavourable incidents. This led to a rare concentration and exceptional ripeness of grapes. Harvesting started on 12 September.
