Producer Information
The result of an amalgamation of two 'boutique' co-operatives in the foothills of Mont Ventoux - traditionally one of the fiercest climbs in the Tour de France - Cave Terreventoux is a slick, modern outfit producing excellent value wines. They sound the bell for modern French wine production, bottling under screwcaps and using attractive die-cut labels among other innovations.
Regional info.
In the foothills of the mighty Mont Ventoux, the often snow-capped cone just to the north of the fashionable Luberon, Cave TerraVentoux is the result of the amalgamation of two Ventoux co-ops -La Roche Blanche and La Montagne Rouge. Together, this ultra forward-looking ‘super co-op' have access to 1,200 ha of these outer Rhone vineyards and five distinct terroirs at their disposal - marl, both calcerous and ancient limestone, sandy loam and pebbly alluvium. Head winemaker Richard Oms puts these diverse vneyards to great use with a well executed (and very smartly presented) range of wines dripping with abundant Southern French sunshine. With the Mont Ventoux recently being elevated to Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the winery is now leading a territorial development project, a sustainable development aiming to defend the region's environment and its natural products.
