Tasting Notes
Light but intense red with great redcurrant and spice pinot character on the nose and on the fresh finish.
Vinification Details.
To get an intensity of fruit more akin to that of Sancerre red, Sylvain Miniot has pulled yields down to a mere 45 Hl/Ha. The wine was fermented in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats at cool temperatures to retain the fresh intensity of red-currant & spice flavours so typical of this variety.
Producer Information
As the price of top Sancerres and Kiwi Sauvignons creeps ever upwards, Touraine has stepped in to the void to provide excellent quality wines at attractive prices. Les Nuages sums up exactly what this region is all about; limey, nettley fruit with refreshingly moderate alcohol levels and a wash of thirst-quenching acidity.
Regional info.
Although tracing its history back as far as the Phoenicians, Cave de Saint Pourcain has its feet very firmly in the 21st century. Set on the stony slopes of the region, recent plantings of Pinot Noir are steadily replacing the gamay for the fruit-driven reds.
