Bibendum
Score: 18.5/20Only five barrels are produced of this Batard-Montrachet. Heavy gold in colour with very strong and forceful fruit, this is a full mouthful of lush golden fruit and buttery warm pastry. The flavours linger in the mouth, and memory, for a long while afterwards.
Producer Information
Having inherited just 2ha of vines in 1982, Vincent Girardin has since built up a considerable portfolio of wines. His was one of the first micro-negociant businesses in Burgundy seeking out top-quality fruit (never must or wine) from growers across the region. The consistency of the wines is remarkable given the scope of Girardin's work and all of his wines are worth seeking out, including the Santenays which are made from his own vines and which are frequently the pick of the commune.
