Tasting Notes
Robert Parker
Score: 95-99 / 100"Possessing compelling richness, the awesome, packed and stacked, inky purple-colored 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes possesses remarkable intensity of blackberry and blueberry fruit intertwined with camphor, lavender, licorice and truffle notes. Sensational richness and intensity make this one of the most concentrated, long-lived wines of the appellation."
Bibendum
Score: 19 / 20Similar to Origines but with more minerality and a slightly more restrained fruit character. This is a dense wine which will repay cellaring.
Producer Information
Winemaker Sebastian Jaume and his brother Christophe, who looks after the sales and marketing side, are two of the slickest operators in the Rhone. Both excel at their particular vocations, and the result is an impressive portfolio that includes top Chateauneuf du Pape estate Domaine Grand Veneur, the beautiful Clos de Sixte vineyard in Lirac and a top quality negociant business, named after their father Alain.
The wines are ripe, intense and full of spicy Rhone fruit. Robert Parker accurately summed them up in his book 'The World's Greatest Wine Estates' as being modern in style but 'never losing the soul and typicity of Provence. They are impeccably well-made, pure, and deeply colored.'
