Tasting Notes
Robert Parker
Score: 94-96 / 100"The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Origines is nearly off the charts in terms of concentration. It is a less sexy, flamboyant effort compared to the 2009, but it is noble, reserved and pure with plenty of black and blue fruit notes intermixed with subtle garrigue, graphite and spice box characteristics. Full and rich with high tannins, good acidity and a style built for the long term, this 2010 will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring, and keep for at least 20-25 years."
Bibendum
Score: 18.5 / 20Pastry, spice, plums, expressive nose, a lot of tannin, and a delicious chewy finish. Quite tight at the moment but plenty of complexity and length.
Producer Information
Winemaker Sebastian Jaume and his brother Christophe, who looks after the sales and marketing side, are two of the slickest operators in the Rhone. Both excel at their particular vocations, and the result is an impressive portfolio that includes top Chateauneuf du Pape estate Domaine Grand Veneur, the beautiful Clos de Sixte vineyard in Lirac and a top quality negociant business, named after their father Alain.
The wines are ripe, intense and full of spicy Rhone fruit. Robert Parker accurately summed them up in his book 'The World's Greatest Wine Estates' as being modern in style but 'never losing the soul and typicity of Provence. They are impeccably well-made, pure, and deeply colored.'
