Tasting Notes
Robert Parker
Score: 88-91+Gazin is normally a big, backstrapping Pomerol as its vineyard sits between Lafleur and Petrus. However, the 2011 is a softer, more gentle effort with a deep plum/purple color and a sweet bouquet of balsam wood, damp earth, black cherry jam, licorice and a hint of tomato skin. Medium to full-bodied and deep, this Gazin is closed and slightly unformed. I suspect there is more to this wine than it revealed on the several occasions I tasted it. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028

Score: 16-Ripe dark fruit with violets and chocolates. Pretty intense on the nose. Very floral. Leaner on the palate than I expected but has just enough flesh for the structure. Not overly generous. Drying finish. (JH) Drink 2017-2026
Bibendum
Score: 17"Savoury fruit. There is nothing reticent about Gazin this year. The fruit and tannins are stronger than expected in this year, and it shows red and black currants, green plums and balsamic characters with a savoury finish. It will look better with some bottle age."
