Tasting Notes
Robert Parker
Score: 93 / 100"The 2010 Clos des Papes blanc, which as I said earlier is an equal part blend of Grenache blanc, Clairette, Roussanne, Picpoul, and Bourboulenc, is aged in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve all of its acidity. The 2010 displays honeyed grapefruit, licorice and an almost exotic pineapple note along with a hint of truffle. The wine has superb fruit, precision, minerality and freshness, and should drink nicely for 20-25 or more years."
Bibendum
Often lauded as one of the best white wines in Chateauneuf du Pape, an equal part blend of every authorized varietal in Chateauneuf du Pape (six different grapes).
Producer Information
Father and son duo, Paul and Vincent Avril run this legendary domaine in the Southern Rhone which produces equally worthy white wines as reds. Vincent's training in Burgundy has built finesse into an appellation known for its depth and power. This is benchmark Chateauneuf du Pape against which all others are judged - it doesn't get any better than this.
