Producer Information
The history of Maison Francois Martenot dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when Lucien Gustave Martenot acquired a domain of 10ha in Savigny-les- Beaune. This domain was created in 1859 by Leonce Bocquet, then sole owner of the Chateau du Clos Vougeot, and fervent defender of Burgundy and its cultural heritage. His daughter, Charlotte Martenot, secured the supervision of this company whose fame grew through the years. Thus, through generations, Maison Francois Martenot has extended its activities to all the appellations from Burgundy to Beaujolais.
Regional info.
It may not mean much to you at first, but the denomination 'vin de table' now is 'vin de France'.
The change comes as a result of the reform of the Common Market Organization (CMO) of the wine sector in Europe.
The new category replaces Vin de Table, and, for the first time, allows the mention of varietal and vintage on the label.
