Lovely dark red colour. Very nice ripe fruit on the nose. Creamy on the taste with some nice hints of fresh spices.

A first selection takes place in the vineyard during the manual harvest followed by a second selection on arrival at the cellar. Fermentation between 20 and 23 C, 4 weeks maceration, extraction by soft pumping over. 30% aged in oak (12 months in medium toasted new French oak).
Producer Information
Launched in 2008 to great acclaim, the Els Pyreneus range throws away the old political borders to unite some of the most excitng terroirs on both the French and Spanish sides of the Pyrenees. The wines are made by top winemaker Jean Marc Lafage and are sourced from old vines in Roussillon, Emporda and Calatayud. Despite the wines all reflecting their individual terroirs, they are linked by a fantastic intensity of fruit and minerality that marks them out from the crowd.
Regional info.
The vineyards of the Roussillon were planted in the 11th Century by Greek mariners. L'Agly is one of the 3 rivers which traverse the region and have formed over time wonderful terraced slopes on poor pebbly soil which offer wonderful terrain to grow vines on.
