Tasting Notes

It is aromatic, fresh and long on the finish. For those of you not familiar with Vermentino, this is the same varietal you find in Tokay (Furmint) and in Provence (Rolle). It has a lovely savoury character with a nutty fruit character and hints of anise. It works incredibly well with the Sauvignon.

Vinification Details.

Modern winemaking and cool fermentation to enhance vibrant fruit flavours and preserve refreshing acidity on the finish. No oak was used at any point.

Producer Information

La Croix is part of Cave de Foncalieu, a a large, quality-focussed co-operative based near the ancient city of Carcasonne in the Languedoc. With a vast array of suppliers, Stuart Grundy from the Bibendum buying team works closely with Nathalie Estribeau (Foncalieu's Head Winemaker). Working closely with the head winemaker, Stuart is able to ensure that the quality, consistency and value of the wines meet our high standards every year.

Regional info.

These wines are selected and blended by Bibendum from literally dozens of individual tanks, they are unique to us and are a bargain for the quality. The only reason we can get wines like this is because we have a partnership with the biggest producer who we have been able to manage like a small domaine.
