Tasting Notes

Carignan is the most interesting red grape in the Languedoc when farmed correctly. This is from relatively low yielding fruit and has the characterstic, hedgerow fruit, garrigue and racy acidity. The Merlot adds some plumpness in the mid-palate and a sweet fruit finish. Serious kit for house wine!

Vinification Details.

Modern winemaking in stainless steel tanks. No oak was used at any point.

Producer Information

La Croix is part of Cave de Foncalieu, a a large, quality-focussed co-operative based near the ancient city of Carcasonne in the Languedoc. With a vast array of suppliers, Stuart Grundy from the Bibendum buying team works closely with Nathalie Estribeau (Foncalieu's Head Winemaker). Working closely with the head winemaker, Stuart is able to ensure that the quality, consistency and value of the wines meet our high standards every year.

Regional info.

These wines are selected and blended by Bibendum from literally dozens of individual tanks, they are unique to us and are a bargain for the quality. The only reason we can get wines like this is because we have a partnership with the biggest producer who we have been able to manage like a small domaine.
