Tasting Notes

Typical aroma of Portuguese varieties are prominent, with great intensity. Characterisitics of raisin, fig, strawberry, chocolate, prune and fruit preserve. Lovely balance on the palate, with an expressive body and soft rounded tannins.

Vinification Details.

The vinification process takes place with a manual harvest, with manual selection on a selection table, and mechanical destemming. Alcoholic fermentation and skin maceration takes place at controlled temperatures with four to six daily pigeages, to allow slow extraction of color and tannins. Post-fermentation maceration for 20 days, followed by racking and pressing of residue. Separate ageing of the Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz wines is in new French oak barrels for about one year, before blending and bottling.

Regional info.

The region has a temperate sub-humid climate with relatively hot and dry summers, different from other viticulture areas in Brazil. The project expects to grow 400 hectares by the year 2012.
