Tasting Notes

Floral aromas of sweet oranges & tangerines with a hint of honeysuckle, complemented by crisp & refreshing tropical fruit flavours on the palate.

Vinification Details.

Immediately after picking, the Viognier grapes were gently pressed. The juice was left to settle at cool temperatures and then racked to a stainless steel fermenter. The stainless steel vessels, as well as the cool fermentation temperatures, preserve the delicate fruit and floral aromas that characterize this wine. After achieving the appropriate level of dryness, the wine was chilled, racked off lees, blended, stabilized and filtered. No oak was used at any time.

Regional info.

Clay Station Vineyard was purchased and developed by the Indelicato family in 1995. Located in the Lodi foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains (300 feet above the valley floor), the vineyard is named after a historic stagecoach stop used during California's Gold Rush. The vineyard is famous for its distinct soil which is a direct result of eons of runoff from the Sierra Nevada Mountains that have been instilled in the terrain with a unique set of minerals made of tiny partials of granite and stone “cobbles” allowing exceptional drainage. The vineyard offers soil and climate profiles that are perfect for hand-crafting this Viognier.

Created from rare or more difficult to grow grape varieties, Clay Station wines combine New World winemaking with classic Old World grape varietals.
