Tasting Notes
Pungently aromatic, this is a cocktail of fruit with a tropical melon base. This is a light bodied wine with a vibrancy and brightness, accompanied by a mineral salt note, not unlike sea salt in taste but certainly in its magnifying effects of flavour. The finish has a citrus like minerality and grapefruit pith texture.
Vinification Details.
The grapes were harvested directly into one tonne bins, and tipped directly into the press. The juice was extracted and clarified prior to a warm fermentation with aromatic yeast strains. After a brief aging period the wine was bottled and released.
Regional info.
Te Awa occupies a prime position in the Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District, one of the premium Hawkes Bay wine growing sites. Warm temperatures, low rainfall and the permeability of the soils create an almost paradoxical blend of consistency and complexity.
The region has produced some of New Zealand's most sought after Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay
