Tasting Notes
Big and powerful but elegant and graceful too. Nutty, buttery aromas with peach and melon fruit. The palate has peachy, citrus and fig fruit rounded out by a creamy texture and delineated by fine acidity.
Vinification Details.
The majority of the Reserve chardonnay was whole bunch pressed, 100% barrel fermented in French oak barriques, of which 30% was new, with natural malolactic fermentation occurring in all the barrels. The wine was lees-stirred monthly during the eleven months in barrel, before racking and filtering prior to bottling.
Producer Information
Stonier is located on the Mornington Peninsula across Port Philip Bay from Melbourne and is home to one of the most stunning views in Aussie wine: whale watching with a glass of Pinot in your hand whilst sitting on the veranda is the perfect way to unwind after a hard day in the vineyards. Stonier handcraft sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a cool climate that is perfect for these varietals, with the Reserve level wines having a justifiable claim to be among Australia's best examples.
Regional info.
Stonier is situated in Victoria's picturesque Mornington Peninsula. The first Chardonnay was planted in 1978 and Pinot Noir in 1982. Over more than 25 years later, Stonier has developed a reputation as a producer of exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
At the heart of Stonier lies a meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking. A desire to reflect the imprint of each site, through subtle variations in flavour and texture, interweaving these differences to form elegant wines of seamless complexity has earned Stonier a place amongst the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers in Australia.
