Tasting Notes

Aromas of plums, redcurrants and dark chocolate, with some floral, violet complexity and subtle French oak bouquet. Rich ripe dark fruit flavours and a typically generous and silky mid-palate are balanced by good acidity, and fine grain tannins give great length and structure.

Vinification Details.

Made with fruit sourced from some of the oldest vines (over 25 years) the Reserve Pinot Noir showcases Pinot Noir's layers and complexity coupled with elegance and richness of flavour. Pinot Noir from the oldest vineyards was fermented in small, open fermenters, with about 80% receiving extended skin maceration, and around 5% being whole bunch fermented. Post ferment it was pressed to French oak (30% new) for

malolactic fermentation and ageing with minimal winemaking interference before bottling.

Producer Information

Stonier is located on the Mornington Peninsula across Port Philip Bay from Melbourne and is home to one of the most stunning views in Aussie wine: whale watching with a glass of Pinot in your hand whilst sitting on the veranda is the perfect way to unwind after a hard day in the vineyards. Stonier handcraft sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a cool climate that is perfect for these varietals, with the Reserve level wines having a justifiable claim to be among Australia's best examples.
