Tasting Notes

A delicious, aromatic Albarino with an abundance of peachy, lime zest fruit on the nose. The palate is fresh and vibrant but with more weight and concentration than most examples of the grape. Jasmine, apricot, lemon, nectarine and lime are all present and correct.

Vinification Details.

Whole bunch pressings, cold fermented. 20% undergo malolactic fermentation

Producer Information

The delightful Angela Martin and her husband Andrew McCarthy run the Castro Martin estate, in Rias Baixas, on Spain's Galician coast. A one grape winery, this Bodega is all about Albarino and Castro Martin has led the way in the grape's recent revival. Angela was one of the first winemakers to recognise the benefits of cool, temperature controlled fermentations to protect Albarino's delicate, aromatic fruit.


Regional info.

Ever since Spain was conquered by the Emperor Augustus, vines have been cultivated on the Atlantic shores of Galicia. On granite & quartz rich soils the Albariño grape flourishes & reigns supreme over the pergolas & terraces of the region. Valle del Salnes is the coolest region in the DO.
