Producer Information
Rarely has one name been so linked to one region. Founded in 1942, this premium family wine estate is well acknowledged as the founding fathers of the region of Toro in Spain. Their 100% commitment to quality, pioneering efforts, respect for the terroir and the unparalleled knowledge and belief in the region ´s varietal Tinta de Toro has helped them gain the reputation as one of the premium producers of Toro wines.
Manuel Farina, owner and founder of Bodegas Farina in Toro, Spain, and has been at the forefront of wine production in his native region of Toro for over forty years. He was largely responsible for turning Toro from a region producing overly-alcoholic jug wines to one of Spain's most exciting regions and was instrumental in the creation of the Toro DO in 1987, subsequently becoming its first President. Bodegas Farina produce exceptional wines from their terroir. John Radford, writing in his book The New Spain, noted that Farina's wines are "beautifully-made, packed with fruit and probably the best Toro have to offer." In 2007 Manuel was honoured to be named among Wines of Spain's list of 'The 25 most influential winemakers in Spain'.
