Tasting Notes
Dry, medium-bodied red with bright, crisp red berry fruit and a soft, food-friendly palate supported by ripe tannins and mouthwatering acidity. An easy-drinking pasta lover to wash down some hearty Italian food.
Vinification Details.
The well ripened grapes, picked during the first ten days of October, are traditionally vinified by the red wine method with 8-10 days maceration; the fermentation is carried out at 28-30 °C; the new wine rests in stainless steel until it is bottled.
Producer Information
A medium-sized producer based on the banks of Lake Garda in Bardolino country, Lamberti focus on producing clean, fresh, modern versions of classic wines like Soave and Valpolicella. They source grapes from across the region and deliver them into a state of the art winery. The company's forward looking attitude, and customer centered approach, can be demonstrated by the development of single varietal IGT wines including a bang up to date Pinot Grigio blush.
Regional info.
Valpolicella is produced in the foothills of the Alps, just west of Verona, in an area sandwiched between the mountains and Lake Garda. The grapes used are Corvina Veronese (40-70%), Rondinella (20-40%) and sometimes Molinara (5-20%). The vintner can also add up to 15% complementary varieties, which include Rossignola, Negrara, Trentina, Barbera and Sangiovese. As a general characteristic the wines tend to have lively to powerful bouquets, be full on the palate with good fruit, velvety, and have a pleasing aftertaste. They also tend to be less tannic than the wines from Tuscany or Piemonte.
