Tasting Notes

Chic, fresh Italian white with light lemon and apple fruit with a delicious, subtle twist of bitter almonds on the finish. Crisp, lively and wonderful with lighter seafood dishes.

Vinification Details.

Traditional winemaking with gentle pressing and low temperature fermentation in order to keep its exceptional fragrance. No oak is used at any point.

Producer Information

Since 1903 Castellani has been exporting its estate wines from Tuscany. Castellani work hard within the vienyard to ensure the best soil types, microclimates and light exposure to the grapes. Sophisticated enological techniques and an intensive research programme on different clones, have allowed them to valorise the great Tuscan vines, such as Sangiovese.

Regional info.

Vernaccia is one of Tuscany's oldest and noblest wines. The long list of significant tributes was crowned in 1966, when the Vernaccia di San Gimignano was accorded the privilege of being the first Italian wine to receive a Denominazione di Origine Controllata, that was then upgraded to Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita in 1993.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano, made from the grape of the same name, can only be produced on the hilly territory of the commune of the same name in Siena province; on the territory of the Medieval town of San Gimignano to be precise. Nearby Siena is also a major tourist attraction known through out the world.
