Tasting Notes
This wine has an intense and characteristic bouquet of ripe fruit with a violet fragrance, and a slight hint of cherries. Dry, with good balance and light velvety tannins.
Vinification Details.
Old traditional vinification method where completely mature grapes are harvested from the vineyards and processed in soft membrane presses. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, with prolonged maceration with the skins.
Producer Information
Since 1903 Castellani has been exporting its estate wines from Tuscany. Castellani work hard within the vienyard to ensure the best soil types, microclimates and light exposure to the grapes. Sophisticated enological techniques and an intensive research programme on different clones, have allowed them to valorise the great Tuscan vines, such as Sangiovese.
Regional info.
Castellani's business was established in Montecalvoli at the end of the 19th century. Facilities have changed & evolved over the decades, but throughout the years, their philosophy has remained the same: 'the quality of the wine begins in the vineyard'. The fruit comes from selected Chianti vineyards - with sandy, clayey and calcareous soils.
