Villa Simone

Owner of one of Rome's most famous enotecas, Piero Costantini bought Villa Simone in 1980 with the dream of making the best possible Frascati. Something of a side project to begin with, it has grown in importance as the wines' reputations spread. Extensive replanting of the vineyards, replacing Trebbiano with the more characterful Malvasia, and the renovation of the cellar with all mod cons, have all played a major part in the estate's regeneration and as the vines mature, so the concentration and depth of the wines improves. Like Suavia in Soave, Villa Simone can be seen as a beacon of quality in an ocean of average local wines.
