Hubert Lignier
Hubert Lignier was born in 1936; his traditional Burgundy domaine was run by his son Romain from 1991 onwards until his tragic passing in 2004. Hubert regained control of the part of the estate, whilst Romain's widow Kellen established Domaine Lucie & Auguste Lignier separately; named after their children. Therefore the original estate still exists but much of the vineyards were divided, despite this, what remains is a high-quality address where you will find excellent wines. The estate is based in Morey St Denis and produces full, rich and concentrated Pinot Noir. The wines are never over-extracted or over-oaked as they are carefully vinified and aged in only 30% new oak. Domaine Hubert Lignier long had the reputation of being a fine domaine for elegant and supple wines. Romain made some winemaking changes but had no problem retaining and indeed ever-widening the circle of followers.
