Felton Road

Felton Road was established in 1991 and is today owned by Nigel Greening (purchased from original owner Stewart Elms in 2000). Located in Central Otago on the south island of New Zealand, the vineyards in the Bannockburn region have a northerly exposure to help maximise ripeness. This is crucial as Central Otago is the most southerly wine making region in the world and therefore the coldest. Here, vineyards are nestled into small macroclimates totally surrounded by high mountains, many of which are snowcapped all year round. Winemaker Blair Walter's experience in Oregon and Burgundy has stood him in good stead for coaxing the best out of the property's vines. He aims to produce wines of elegance, complexity and exceptional depth of fruit. As a result Felton Road has become a cult winery; being the first to produce a new style of Pinot Noir from outside Burgundy. The range is increasingly organic and consists of several single vineyard Pinot Noirs; including Cornish Point, Calvert, Block 3 and Block 5, and Chardonnay and Riesling too.
