Dom Perignon

Dom Pierre Perignon was the 17th century Benedictine monk who has gone down in history as the person who 'invented' Champagne. Sadly for the mythologists, he didn't. In fact, he spent much of his time trying to stop bubbles appearing in his wine. He did however, vastly improve grape selection and perfected the art of blending different wines. Today the name Dom Perignon exists as Moet & Chandon's prestige cuvee champagne - created in 1937 and made only in exceptional vintages. It is named after the monk in tribute, Moet & Chandon (part of luxury goods group LVMH) have sinced purchased the vineyards inside the walls of the Abbey of Hautvillers - where Dom Perignon started his work.

Each vintage reflects an assemblage that is a unique act of creation for the wine maker Richard Geoffroy. In its constant quest for the ultimate balance between Pinot Noir (45%) and Chardonnay (55%), the Dom Perignon style traces, vintage after vintage, a complex structure made up of aroma and sensations, silky smooth, light as air and full of sensuality.

Along with Cristal and Krug, this is the epitome of 'Grand Marque' champagne. From Royal tables to Michelin star restaurants and trendy bars, Dom Perignon has always been enjoyed in the most exclusive and most famous places around the world.
