Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte
Located in the Graves region of Bordeaux; Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte is a fantastic wine within the Pessac-Leognan appellation which was ranked amongst the best cru-classes in the 1959 classification of Graves. After going through extensive modernisation during the 1990s, Smith-Haut-Lafitte is the perfect example of a wave of reinvestment and revitalisation that a number of Bordeaux estates experienced in recent years. As a result; in the last decade it has become one of the leading estates in the region.
The grand vin is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. There are also second wines called Les Hauts de Smith, including a rose. The wines are great, both fresh and rich; both highly desirable characteristics - especially in combination. This is an impressive property and definitely a name to look out for.
