Cave Ribeauville

Last year we said that this was a co-operative that went from strength to strength each year and we weren't joking. Since then renowned Bordeaux consultant, Denis Dubordieu, has joined the team. "In Ribeauville I was struck by the discovery of a superb vineyard, on a human scale, with very enthusiastic and professional grape growers. It's hard to find as much motivation and competence per acre! It is really an exciting project, with a potential for "tailor-made" grape growing and winemaking with qualified personnel and exceptional equipment. The Cave de Ribeuville must be managed like a Cru, a wine producing unit with the ambition of making great dry white wines."

Working with a new Head of Grape Growing as well as Director Philippe Dry and winemaker Evelyne Dondelinger, numerous successful vineyard trials have already been carried out, especially on the Hagenau plot and the Grand Crus vineyards. The results will translate into the wines from the exceptional 2008 vintage onwards - so really exciting times ahead. With more than 260 hectares at their disposal encircling the ancient town of Ribeauville and a quality charter signed up to by all 40 grape growers, there is a real commitment to constantly improve this classically balanced range of wines.

Riesling is the real king around here as it favours steep slopes, rigorous winters, beautiful sunny days and doesn't fear frost, heavy rains or sweltering heat. In short, Riesling is just made for Alsace. So we say, grab your Munster cheese, a bottle of Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim and party Alpine style!
