Casanova di Neri

Giacomo Neri runs this Tuscan estate, with oenological advice from consultant Carlo Ferrini. With over twenty hectares of vineyard, Neri turns out a extremely worthwhile collection of wines each vintage, including Brunello di Montalcino and two crus. The wines are almost entirely made from Sangiovese. Although fairly modern in style, they age well and are carefully oaked, with only large Slovenian and French oak barrels used. The single vineyard wines of Cerretalto and Tenuta Nuova are made only in the best years. The range also includes a Riserva and a good Rosso, the best wines are powerful, age worthy and refined, with notes of soft leather and ripe cherry which is typical of Italian terroir.
