Journeys End

Founded in 1996 when the Gabb family took over and replanted the estate, Journey's End has quickly become one of Stellenbosch's top addresses. The vines are located in the Heldersig basin, close to False Bay. This beautiful location near Sir Lowry's Pass benefits from south-facing slopes and cool coastal breezes so that the grapes' ripening to allow phenolic ripeness to keep pace with the rising sugar levels.

The Schaapenberg terroir with its sea-facing slopes and excellent soils has started to draw comparison with that of the Medoc, with some exceptional wines emerging from the area. Journey's End neighbours include Morgenster and Vergelegen, placing it at the heart of one of the Cape's finest terroirs.

This year sees the introduction of two new dual-varietal wines at a lower price point. Winemaker, Leon Esterhuizen, is delighted to explain that with new vineyards maturing and coming on stream he has much greater flexibility to blend different parcels to create the wines he wants.
