Garage Wine Company

Following an illustrious career in the wine business Derek Mossmann Knapp and his wife created the "Garage Wine Co" project in 2001 sourcing grapes from his old friends at William Fevre in Chile. The Knapps work with tiny micro-bin fermenters of just 2,000 litres, hence the Garage Wine moniker! The uniqueness of these wines stretches beyond the small-scale production. For example, Derek gathers used bottles for his wines and the Carignan is bottled in (cleaned) old 'Motel Champagne' bottles. In 2010 Derek was awarded The Geoffrey Roberts travel award and is spending the bursary travelling around Chile encouraging artisan wine production from dry-farmed old vines in southern Chile.
