Port, Sherry and Sweet wines
Port as well as a phenomenal sweet wine, perfect after dinner and again made in a number of different styles from ruby port and late bottled vintage to the tawny port right up to Vintage Port, which are produced in the very best years in the Duoro Valley.
Sherry - the trade and press alike can't seem to get enough of the stuff! It is quite possibly some of the best value wine you can buy as some Sherries have traces of liquid over 100 years old. Available in an array of styles from the wonderful nutty and dry Manzanilla, Fino and Amontillado to the very stick Pedro Ximenez and Bodegas Hidalgo is one of the best producers around.
Then we have a huge array of dessert wines from all over the world, from the very best Sauternes from Chateau d'Yquem all the way to new world styles hoping to emulate this fine nectar (though often at a fraction of the price). Things don't get any better than a good dessert wine.
Bibendum Fact
The yields at top Sauternes Chateaux are so low that each vine often produces only one glass of wine.
