Catena Triumph at Malbec Awards - 21/09/2007
Those enterprising folk at Wines of Argentina came up with a clever way of promoting that country's finest grape, Malbec. Why not put several of the best examples up against each other, but in a clever twist, not just each other; but as accompaniment to a choice of meats? After all, Argentina is the home of the unrivalled steak, and they do consume something like a whole cow each every year! So, the wines and the meats were assembled over several heats, with the grand final in London last week. The results were announced at this week's Wines of Argentina tasting...
Catena Alta Malbec won 'Best Malbec with Beef' and 'Winner overall' in the competition, while its little brother Catena Malbec won 'Best Malbec with Lamb'. All this means Bodega Catena Zapata walked off with three of the four awards on offer. Bravo to them!
