Balfour Brut Rose wins Decanter Trophy - 12/05/2009

11am on the first day of the London International Wine Fair is always well anticipated, as it is the moment that IWC and Decanter Awards and Medals are released. Building on its IWC Gold Medal last year, England's finest, Hush Heath Estate has performed brilliantly. The brilliant Balfour Brut Rose has won 'Sparkling UK over £10 Trophy' in the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Elsewhere, in the International Wine Challenge (IWC) competition, there were some really great results for Champagne De Castellane and Prinz von Hessen. The Rose de Castellane has shown its class by bagging a gold medal, as have Prinz von Hessen's Riesling Johannisberger Kabinett Trocken 2007 and Riesling Winkeler Jesuitengarten Erste Gewachs 2007. The remaining Prinz von Hessen wines all scored medals of some colour so a great performance all round.

Not to be outdone, Laroche scored IWC 7 medals, including a gold for their Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Vieilles Vignes. Bisceglia also grabbed a gold for their Gudarra Aglianico del Vulture 2005.

Details of all the medal winners will follow shortly.
