Gold and Silver glory for Valdivieso - 22/05/2007
If it's May, it must be the Wine Fair; and if it's the Wine Fair, it must be time for the International Wine Challenge (IWC) and Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) to declare their winners. Thousands of wines will have been swilled and cogitated over, and the world's best judges given their expert opinions.
The votes are in, and Valdivieso in Chile have bagged a gold in each competition, as well as a hatful of silver medals. There were Aussie Gold medals galore too.
Golds were awarded to Valdivieso Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (in the IWC) and Valdivieso Syrah Reserve (at DWWA). The IWC yielded silver medals for the same Syrah Reserve, the Pinot Reserve and the Single Vineyard Merlot.
Decanter Silver medals went to Eclat, Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc and Single Vineyard Chardonnay.
Brett Jackson, Chief Winemaker at Valdi, said: "Wow!"
