Germany 2009: A superb vintage for Riesling - 27/07/2010

Germany 2009 En Primeur

Following hot on the heels of the Bordeaux 2009 campaign comes Germany 2009 - another superb vintage where the top producers have made outstanding wines. However, unlike Bordeaux, do not expect articles in major newspapers, endless hype and stratospheric prices.

Germany's wines fly under the radar these days, a far cry from a hundred years ago when one paid the same price for a top Mosel as a bottle of Lafite. The upside of this is that wines are probably the most underpriced in the world of Fine Wine.

As Jancis Robinson recently wrote on her website www.jancisrobinson.com: "Winemaking in Germany has never been more brilliant, the weather never in recent times more propitious for ripening grapes fully while retaining the freshness that is German wines' special trait. And the 2009s are easier to like at this early stage than any German vintage I can remember."

Our offer includes wines from top growers including Donnhoff, Dr Loosen, Egon Muller, Prinz von Hessen, Fritz Haag and Robert Weil.
