http://www.bibendum-wine.co.uk/retail/news/September/2010/IWC_Corporate_Social_Responsibility_Award

Bibendum was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the International Wine Challenge 2010, at the awards dinner in September 2010.

This award recognises the wine merchant who has done the most in areas such as charity fundraising, the environment and responsible drinking. Following on from being named UK Green Company of the Year at The Drinks Business Green Awards in February, this is further endorsement of all the fantastic work Bibendum does above and beyond our core business of selling wine.

Bibendum was named UK Green Company of the Year at the inaugural Drinks Business Green Awards in February 2010.

The judges said: "The competition was very stiff in this category, but Bibendum shone through as the UK Green Company of the Year due to the way in whch they have clearly embraced their impact on the environment in every aspect of the business. Their holistic approach to reducing their carbon emissions and reducing waste is admirable and should be held up as the standard for all other similar company's in our trade."

Bibendum is 'Best Value Merchant' 2009
http://www.bibendum-wine.co.uk/retail/news/May/2009/SWA_Great_Value_Merchant

In 2009 Bibendum won 'Best Value Merchant of the Year' in the Sommelier Wine Awards. Given the current economic climate, it is a real feather in the buying team's cap for us to have been recognized for our commitment to providing the very best wines available for the money.

The judges said: "This award is all about over-delivery - and Bibendum certainly managed that this year. Of its seven Gold Listed wines, all but one were under a tenner, and most were under £8 [trade price ex VAT]. That is one hell of a good performance and shows that the company has a good eye for finding great wines at list-friendly prices"

'Brand Bibendum has continued to go from strength to strength in the eyes of the panel, who commented on the company's 'first rate marketing' - particularly for its own annual tasting, which attracted 1,700 visitors.

"Simply put," said one of the judges, "Bibendum ticks all the boxes."'

Agency of the Year 2006, IWC

"Bibendum's portfolio is impressive across the board with particular strengths in France and premium Australia. Its innovative approach to branding deserves a special mention, as does its increasing focus on fine wines, including en primeur sales."

"The moment I saw the word 'Bibendum' in teeny letters on the back label of the house red I knew everything would be just fine. Behind the boho-chic of their Primrose Hill retail operation, Bibendum... is also one of the biggest and best suppliers to the on-trade..."

Olly Smith, Broadcaster & Wine Writer

"Bibendum rock - stocking a big range of eclectic as well as classic wines, they don't mess about, they just deliver. "

Richard Ehrlich, Independent on Sunday

"What I noticed most about Bibendum was that it had wines that no one else had. ..And as Bibendum got older, it started accumulating a list of agencies that included some of the best names in all sorts of far-flung producing areas: Springfield and Graham Beck in South Africa, for instance; Catena, Alamos and the hugely successful Argento brand in Argentina; and so on. Even as Bibendum grows, however, its list remains quality-conscious and well focused. At a recent tasting at its London offices. I tried 30 wines and didn't find anything boring among them. ..Whatever you buy, you're guaranteed an interesting time."

Giraffe
http://www.giraffe.net

"Our most recent project has seen Giraffe send key employees to Bibendum to get some advanced wine training, not only on our wine list but on the history and wine making process and how best to sell great affordable wine in the casual dinning environment. The 'Wine Champions' as we call them are now not only more knowledgeable about wine but also have the confidence to share that information with the rest of the giraffe team back in the restaurants. We hold wine tasting/training sessions every month for new and existing staff and these are held by the Wine Champions and supported by friendly, approachable Bibendum reps. The result... increased knowledge, increased sales and even more people enjoying a lovely glass of wine!!"

Bibendum fit our brand to a tee, energetic, exciting with a real rock n'roll approach, their eclectic portfolio exudes creativity with a stunning selection of boutique wines from across the globe, bringing a high octane edge to our wine offering, our guests love it."

The Lemon Tree, Oxford

"As my interest in wine was fuelled, I was delighted to be invited to be amongst the first group to undertake the WSET intermediate certificate, run by Bibendum. We learned a wide spectrum of information ranging from growing techniques to label terminology. The three days were highlighted with constant tastings that showed us specific grape varieties and styles. The exam was short and seemed quite reasonable. I found the benefits to be immediate. I feel very confident when talking with customers and colleagues and I was very pleased to pass with a distinction."

Edward Quigley, The Lemon Tree

Julia Hands, Chairman & CEO, Hand Picked Hotels
http://www.handpicked.co.uk

"When I started Hand Picked Hotels in 2001 one of the first commercial decisions taken at group level was to engage Bibendum as our wine consultant and sole supplier of wines. This decision has been proven sound and the relationship between the two companies has grown steadily over the years. As a group we have constructed a varied and easily accessible core wine list which is then enhanced by the needs and preferences of each individual hotel whilst the hotel teams benefit enormously from the support, training and advice they receive from the Bibendum representatives. Throughout the past six years Bibendum have shown a deep understanding of our business needs and of our strategic direction as a UK hotel company".

Sarah Willingham, Development Director, Clapham House Group PLC
http://www.claphamhouse.com

"I have known of Bibendum for quite some time and always been impressed by their reputation. When I engaged the company to help with the wine list for Bombay Bicycle Club I was very impressed. The tasting and selection process was great fun and the wines suggested were, without fail awesome completely tailored and complementary to our food offering. The level of service has been great and I feel we have gained a business partner rather than just a supplier."

Best Wholesaler or Agent

"Bibendum... has evolved over the years from retail to wholesale and to brand creation. Today Bibendum has a foot in several camps, selling fine Burgundies and Rhones from individual estates as well as highly commercial examples of branded wine from Southern France and Australia. It has also been unusually successful in supplying restaurants."
